CHAMPION jockey Richard Hughes returns from injury with five booked rides at Sandown today.
Hughes fractured a vertebra in a race fall from the ill-fated Mars on the Dubai World Cup card last month, but has now been passed fit to ride.
Hughes said: "I can't wait. I was very anxious going to see the doctor, but he has given me the all clear, which is great."
Hughes' great rival Ryan Moore has stolen a march in the jockeys' title race building a 21-0 lead in the champion's absence yet William Hill and bet365 still make 41-year-old Wiltshire-based Hughes 6-5 to be champion jockey for a third year in a row. Moore is evens with Paddy Power.
Hughes' comeback ride is on Art Official in the opening 1.40 race at Sandown. His other rides are: Montiridge (2.45); Truth Or Dare (3.15); Fire Spinner (4.25) and Windshear (4.55).
Four of the five rides are for his boss and brother-in-law Richard Hannon.
