CHRIS Martin has finally broken his silence about his split from Gwyneth Paltrow.
Pictured attending Victoria Beckham's 40th birthday party in London without a date yesterday, the rocker has hinted that his own personal issues may have led to the unexpected breakdown of his marriage.
During a slot on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show, Martin admitted: "About two years ago I was a mess really.
"I can't enjoy the great things around me because I am burdened by this.
"I've got to not blame anyone else and make some changes."
"I wouldn't use the word 'breakdown', this was more a realisation about trying to grow up, basically," he said.

The 38-year-old stated that penning Coldplay's latest album, Ghost Stories, had been a cathartic process which enabled him to vent much of his frustration.
Magic, the band's new single is a musical unravelling of his split with Ms Paltrow.
The Yellow hitmaker confessed: "It's not a question of you either love someone or you really hate someone, it's more nuanced than that.
Last week removal men were photographed outside the pair's marital home in north London.
