UKIP leader Nigel Farage dazzled voters on the campaign trail today–not necessarily with his words but with his outlandishly yellow trousers.
Seconds later, with a cheeky grin, he tweeted the selfie, saying: “There are two things in life I can't bear.
“David Cameron and unpolished shoes.”
However, it wasn’t the joke most people were laughing at but the eccentric outfit he was wearing: a tweed jacket, yellow cords, brown brogues and a strangely patterned tie on a checked white shirt.
“Good grief,” remarked Sunday Times political editor Tim Shipman on Twitter.
If ever there was a way for Nigel Farage to get noticed, this outfit was certainly eye catching to say the least!
“Golf away,” tweeted another, who didn’t appear to be a Ukip fan.
Antonia Kraskowski, the Daily Express fashion expert, also offered her opinion.
She said: “If ever there was a way for Nigel Farage to get noticed, this outfit was certainly eye catching to say the least!
“Individual elements of this outfit could work when teamed with neutral pieces (for example, the jacket with a plain shirt and dark chinos) but the overall pattern clashing of this combination plus the yellow cords will have heads turning for all of the wrong reasons.”
Mr Farage is known for his love of English country life but he’s also a man who likes outfits favoured by City stockbrokers, all made in Britain, of course.
