Ricky Wilson: 'I opened door for rockers on talent shows' #CarryGobySeanKellz #FutureGroupNG via @i_amreginaldjr

KAISER CHIEFS frontman RICKY WILSON is convinced he has opened the door for rock stars to become judges on TV talent contests.

The musician joined the panel of coaches on The Voice earlier this year (14) alongside more mainstream acts Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Kylie Minogue.

He is adamant his arrival on the programme has given other rock stars the green light to do the same, highlighting Coldplay's Chris Martin's mentoring stint on the U.S. version of the show earlier this month (Apr14).
Wilson tells the Metro newspaper, "This is me being a big head here, so I need to be careful - but when it was announced that Chris Martin was doing the American one...I'd like to think that it came into his head when he was offered it that it was maybe something that we're allowed to do.
"I was probably the first alternative musician to judge on a reality show and I think it was a brave step to do that, but I see it as a step in the door."
