SMILING broadly, the wife of injured Formula One ace Michael Schumacher cannot hide her joy after her husband miraculously woke from his coma.

Corinna, 45, married to Michael for 18 years, looked in good spirits at a riding event in her native Switzerland in her first public appearance in months.

A source said: “After a truly horrendous year, she is finally able to smile again.”

The prognosis was grim when Schumacher, 45, seven-times Formula One world champion, suffered severe head injuries in a skiing accident in the Alps last December.

Last night a Swiss helicopter firm was at the centre of an inquiry into attempts to sell his medical files.
