Boomtown Rats singer tells Lorraine Kelly he doesn't think her baby sons Phaedra and Astala will 'have this craving to remember their mum'
SIR Bob Geldof made his first television appearance since the tragic death of his beloved daughter this morning.
The dad-of-four bravely opened his heart about late Peaches in a heartbreaking interview with Lorraine Kelly on her early morning show.
"It's intolerable," the Boomtown Rats singer admitted.
"It's very hard as everybody must realise, especially if it's happened to them, too. What else do you do? You get on with it," he added.
The 62-year-old also spoke of his everyday struggle as he continues to grieve the late mum.
"You could be talking to somebody, you could be walking down the road, and I’ve got to be very careful because this is still very raw but I’m walking down the road and suddenly, out of the blue, there’s an awareness of, her… and you know, I buckle," he recalled.
Bob admitted he'll often duck into a King's Road side-street to cry to protect himself from the paps.
"I’d imagine that will be there for a long time, I mean what else,” he added.
The Irish activist is keen for Thomas Cohen's late wife's baby sons Phaedra and Astala to avoid getting trapped in the 'Geldof' lifestyle.
He told the TV host he doesn't think they'll pine for their mum as they'll be too young to remember her.
"I’m not sure that… they are so small the little chaps that I’m not sure that they’ll have this craving to remember their mum, and I think that is healthy," Bob said.
Pixie Geldof's dad finished by praising Tom and his parents and their "fantastic" childcare efforts.
"I have had to think about the rest of the family and Tom, their Dad, and Keith and Sue their grandparents who are amazing people and doing fantastically with the guys so, yeah, as I say, I don’t want them becoming wrapped up in the Geldof life," he finished.
