Despite his bruising experience at Old Trafford, the 51-year-old Scot remains very much a man in demand and he is eager to bounce back with a new team next season.
One possibility that could be high on the agenda is a move to the German Bundesliga, a league he has always admired for its vibrancy and strong culture of ownership by supporters.
There has been serious contact already from Germany and clubs in Spain and Turkey, as well as discreet inquiries from the Premier League here at home.
Moyes was axed last week after less than 10 months in charge at Manchester United, and a financial settlement with the club was quickly agreed despite the brutal nature of his dismissal that was widely criticised.
That alone was evidence of his intention to fight back from the first sacking of his managerial career, much in the manner that England boss Roy Hodgson swiftly moved on from a brief spell in charge of Liverpool.
The instant prospect of attractive job offers across the continent only increases the likelihood that Moyes will return to the fray after a short break.
Yesterday was the first Saturday of a football season where he has been out of work for 36 years - since the day he started as an apprentice at Celtic.
Over the last 15 years he has been a manager at Preston North End, Everton and then at Manchester United as the successor to the legend of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Moyes has been buoyed by waves of support from his peers within the game but nothing is likely to boost him more than working again as a manager.
