‘Plane crash’ puts 999 crews to the test in emergency drill #CarryGobySeanKellz #FutureGroupNG via @i_amreginaldjr

PEDESTRIANS lie bloodied in the street and the wreckage of a passenger plane pokes out of a mass of smoking rubble in nightmare scenes in London yesterday.

London, plane crash, emergency, emergency crew, doomsday scenario, ThamesRESCUE: A firefighter tends to a pedestrian during a three-day exercise in London’s Docklands[PA]
At first glance it looks like emergency crews are dealing with an air disaster, but the doomsday scenario is just a training exercise to test emergency response procedures.
The “crash site”, at Millennium Mills by the Thames in east London, was created using a fuselage from a real Boeing 737 and 400 tonnes of rubble.
Major incident exercises like this allow us to examine what worked well and what difficulties we faced

Fierce flames and choking smoke added to the realism.
“Victims” drenched in fake blood, including amputee actors, were rescued and treated.
Crash debris and black box simulators were put in the river for the Metropolitan Police diving unit to recover and firefighters trained in water rescue looked for “survivors”.
More than 200 emergency crews took part in the three-day drill hosted by London Fire Brigade, which was planned long before the MH370 disaster.
Commander Peter Terry, of the Metropolitan Police, said: “Major incident exercises like this allow us to examine what worked well and what difficulties we faced, so we can take that and use it to improve our response and co-ordination when dealing with real incidents.”
