Moyes was sacked as United boss yesterday just 10 months into his reign at Old Trafford, having been handed a six-year deal to become Sir Alex Ferguson's successor last summer.

But while Ryan Giggs has been placed in temporary charge of United, Moyes has still not officially completed his exit from the club.

Express Sport understands Moyes remains in negotiations with his former employers about a severance package.

Some estimates state that talks could take up to TWO WEEKS to conclude the former Everton boss' sack deal.

Moyes was thought to be due to walk away with a £10million-plus pay-off, but some reports suggest it could end up at less than half that figure.

That is due to a "failure clause" in his contract that was activated when the 50-year-old failed to guide the club into next season's Champions League.

It has also been revealed that the axe fell on Moyes after the United board started to worry that the players were 'not up for it' under his management.

"The players didn't look up for it," a secret United source said.

Once more "lacklustre" performances followed, the source added, Moyes had to go.
