Jason Bell, who is serving a six-year prison sentence, warned that if people harm his family he will "hurt them".

He also gloated online about soon being released.

The 22-year-old, whose Facebook profile picture is his police mugshot, had told his victim during the knife attack: "I'm going to prison for you."

He was jailed after admitting to causing grievous bodily harm and threatening with an offensive weapon last December.

In his most recent post, the thug brags he will be out of prison in two years.

Bell's father Martin, 40, was also jailed for nine months this February for helping his son stay on the run following the stabbing.

Speaking about his dad, Bell posted: "got ma dad jail for *** all ya lil ***** grass he done nwt wrong to no1 all he dne was be a dad to his kids and this happen to him well watch what happen ya lil *** and ****** **** coz whn i get out thy will give me a reason to put me in jail."

Bell also posted a picture of himself and a group of his fellow prisoners smiling with the caption "Xmas day with the boys."

Earlier this year he changed his profile picture on his Facebook page to his police mugshot.

One of his friends commented on the picture "H.M.P finest."

A Prison Service spokesperson said: "The Justice Secretary has made clear that it is totally unacceptable for prisoners to access social networking sites or instruct others to do so on their behalf.

"No prisoner should be in any doubt that if they break the rules they will be stripped of their privileges and may be reported to the police for further action."

Bell carried out the knife attack with a teenage boy who admitted the lesser offence of unlawful wounding.

They were both cleared of the original allegation of attempted murder.
