GEORGIOS SAMARAS sent Ivory Coast crashing out as Greece earned a place in the second round in Fortaleza with a late penalty.
The defeat came as Ivorian Yaya Toure’s stand-off with Manchester City had the club denying his claims they refused him compassionate leave to be with his brother Ibrahim, who died last week aged 28.
Toure says he could not be at his bedside after the season ended because City had to ?y to Abu Dhabi for a title celebration party.
Toure said: “I wanted to stay for four or ?ve days with my brother before I ?ew to prepare for the World Cup with Ivory Coast. Except that City did not want to give me a few days.”
City insisted he did not ask them speci?cally and they would never refuse such a request.
