THE mother of a suspected love rat who was publicly shamed by two scorned women has today hit back at her son's ex-lovers, claiming he has been treated like a "mass murderer".
The poster was seen by thousands of commuters during morning rush hour yesterday, having been hung by Nicola Morland and Angela Illingworth after the women allegedly discovered they were both being cheated on.
Mr Frazer's mother today blasted his former girlfriends' revenge plot outside her son's home in Washington, Sunderland while he hid behind a curtain.
She explained her son had been the subject of ridicule at his workplace and the woman had gone too far.
He's not a mass murderer you know, it was just a stupid joke. He's not a bad lad
"It's a huge joke at his work.
"One of the girls he has spoken to and she knows she shouldn't have done it. I think it was maybe a stupid joke, but it's backfired. A bit of a cruel joke."
The banner, which was later removed, featured a picture of Mr Frazer and his former lovers.
The red-and-yellow banner was hung on the northbound carriageway between the Bowes incline and the Angel of the North but it was later removed.
She said: "It has been a bit of a shock how far this has gone.
"Enough is enough now. We've proved a point and it's hit him where it hurts."
A source close to the women described Mr Frazer as a "love rat" but said they did not know if he was seeing anyone else.
It is believed Mr Frazer was dating Ms Morland for a number of years but when they split up he started to see Ms Illingworth.
It is claimed that he cheated on the pair, who had never met, for around six weeks.
But when they discovered his alleged infidelity and met for the first time they decided to get their revenge and commissioned the huge banner.
In one photo on the sign, Mr Frazer is pictured in a black North Face jacket while, in the other photo, the two women have posed for a selfie together.
The two women bear a striking resemblance to each other.
