FORMER Manchester United and Everton winger Andrei Kanchelskis has pointed the finger at Rio Ferdinand and Rafael after David Moyes was sacked by the club on Tuesday.
Kanchelskis spent a trophy-laden spell at Old Trafford between 1991 and 1995 before joining Everton.
And the Russian claims that the current crop of players is not up to the standard he was used to at his time at the club.
He said: "I do not understand why Rio Ferdinand and Rafael are still in the side.
"They are not up to the standard of Manchester United."
While Ferdinand and Rafael were singled out by the Russian, Kanchelskis says the pair are not alone in falling short of the required calibre but also questions Moyes' training techniques.
I do not understand why Rio Ferdinand and Rafael are still in the side.
He added: "Not all the players are ready to play for United, especially in defence and midfield.
"They need to get rid of a few players across the pitch.
"The number of injuries throughout the season also shows that not all is well with the club's training regime."
And Kanchelskis - who played alongside current caretaker boss Ryan Giggs during his time at United - now believes that Borussia Dortmund's Jurgen Klopp is the best man to lead the club forward.
He said: "I really like this coach. I think his style would really suit Manchester United."
