MEXICO eased their passage into the second round for the sixth straight time following second-half goals from Rafael Marquez, Andres Guardado and Javier Hernandez.
First skipper Marquez, above, headed in a 72nd-minute corner from Hector Herrera, and four minutes later, Guardado shot in left-footed from Oribe Peralta’s pass.
And just to complete the Mexicans’ night, Manchester United’s Hernandez came off the bench, and headed in from close range with eight minutes to go after a corner on the right.
Croatia got a consolation goal by Ivan Perisic with three minutes left, from Ivan Rakitic’s pass but then had Ante Rebic sent off with a minute left for a studs-up tackle on sub Carlos Pena.
