Adorable baby with flat head syndrome wears American Football-style helmet 23 hours a day #CarryGobySeanKellz #FutureGroupNG via @myentertain9jar

THIS cute baby may look like a mini-American Football star, but his helmet is in fact a vital part of his life.

Five-month-old Olly Herbert suffers from plagiocephaly, also known as flat head syndrome.
Plagiocephaly is characterised by an asymmetrical distortion (flattening of one side) of the skull, sometimes caused by lying on the back for too long.
Olly from Smiths Wood, Solihull, was diagnosed when his mother, Samantha Kirkbright, noticed that her son's head was beginning to look lopsided.
Ms Kirkbright, 28, explained: "When he was about six weeks old I noticed his head was sticking out on an angle and the back of his head was flat.
"I took him to the doctors and they reassured me everything was fine.
"But, after doing some research, I realised it may not go back to normal on its own.
"I didn't want to risk Olly being bullied at school when there was a chance to do something for him now."

Olly's extended family helped to fund the £2,000 helmet and now Ms Kirkbright and Olly's father Carl are fundraising to repay them.
Although the tot has to wear the helmet for 23 hours a day, he does not seem bothered by his headgear.
Ms Kirkbright said: "He is a very happy baby in it.
"Some people have said he looks like a little American footballer - he looks really cute and it shows off his chubby cheeks."

Samantha, who also has another son, eight-year-old Kaden, is now raising funds for other children through charity Headstart4Babies.
The mum, who works at Costa Coffee, said: "We are doing what we can.
"We are organising a car boot sale and a raffle at work.
"My brother-in-law is also doing the Great Manchester Run next week for the cause."
