The actor, who plays detective Jack Bauer in the hugely popular TV series, has revealed that he is worried about how the new series might go down since its last airing in 2010.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, he said: "The fear of not having it fulfil all of its potential is massive.
"We all feel a huge sense of responsibility to the show. There was this great sense of accomplishment when we finished the eight seasons of the show and it's a character that has changed my life in so many ways."The actor will reprise his role as Jack Bauer in the hugely popular series [WENN]Series nine will take place in London and will only feature 12 episodes [WENN]He added: "People will judge for better or for worse but yeah, there's a lot of nervousness on my behalf."
While the thriller might be known for its real-time aspect, with each show representing an hour in the day of Jack Bauer's life, series nine will only feature 12 episodes.
Set in London, the latest offering will follow Bauer as he tries to stop the assassination of President James Heller, played by William Devane.
"The 12 episodes will represent a 24-hour day and the episodes will [again] be in real time,’ Sutherland explains.24: Live Another Day will air next Wednesday 7th May at 9pm on Sky1 [WENN]"We’re using those other 12 hours to move around – so if Jack Bauer needs to get on a plane to go from London to Germany, you don’t have to watch that. You can see him get on a plane at the end of an episode and see him land at the beginning of the next."
Lifelong 24 fan Stephen Fry also joins the cast as British Prime Minister Trevor Davies.
24: Live Another Day will air next Wednesday 7th May at 9pm on Sky1.
