The heated brawl took place as a District Line train pulled into Aldgate East station on Monday at 9.20pm - minutes before a walkout by London Underground workers began.
The video, filmed by a fellow commuter and posted on YouTube, shows the two men pushing each other while sitting down.
The pensioner then hits the younger man in the head twice, before attacking him again with two blows to the groin as he stands up.

Another passenger in the carriage is heard to shout: "Listen, what you doing man - leave it out".

With the pair both standing the younger commuter then elbows the pensioner in the face knocking him to his seat, before launching a flurry of blows at his head.
The punches knock a pair of glasses and a hat off the pensioner's head before the younger man knees him in the face with a sickening blow, appearing to knock him out.

Other commuters are then heard shouting "woah, hang on" and "oi, leave him."
The video ends as one passenger tells the younger man to "calm down", with the pensioner laying motionless in his seat.
British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed a 68-year-old has been arrested and they appealed for witnesses to find the younger man in the video.

Detective Constable Lawrence Murphy, who is leading the investigation, said: “At 9.20pm onboard a District line train, a physical altercation occurred between two men which resulted in a fight which left a man requiring hospital treatment.
"I urgently want to speak to the man pictured, as I believe he will be able to greatly assist the investigation. If you recognise him, or were on board the train, please get in touch.
"Violence on the Tube is rare, but when it does happen, because of the confined spaces, it can be all the more shocking.
"Passengers can be reassured that BTP takes all violent offences extremely seriously and we are doing everything we can to trace the offender and bring him to justice."
