Monster cactus smashes through greenhouse roof after growing 16ft in just a few weeks #CarryGobySeanKellz #FutureGroupNG via @myentertain9jar

THIS monster cactus stem has smashed through the roof of a greenhouse after shooting up 16ft in just a few weeks – and it’s still growing.

The giant agave, a native of Mexico and getting on for 50 years old, is about to flower for the first time.
Mink and Tim Sumner-Wilson, who run the Plant Lovers Nursery in Candlesby, Lincolnshire, bought the cactus in France in 1968 when it was only 10in tall.
We didn’t think we would see it flower – which is when it grows more and means it is towards the end of its life – because they can live to 100 years old

Mink, 70, said: “It has become part of the family.
“We didn’t think we would see it flower – which is when it grows more and means it is towards the end of its life – because they can live to 100 years old.”
The stem, growing by 2in every day, is expected to reach 25ft by the end of the summer. Tim, 73, said: “It has been amazing to see it.”
So this is one prickly customer the couple are more than happy to deal with.
