SHE played his faithful sidekick during his time in Doctor Who, and it seems that Karen Gillan is still very much good friends with Matt Smith.

In fact, the former co-stars get on so well that they even decided to meet up whilst in Los Angeles and enjoy a lunch date together.
On Tuesday the pair went for food at Hugo's restaurant and decided to sit outside due to the beautiful Californian sunshine.
Both Karen and Matt had dressed down for the outin, with the 26-year-old actress opting for a daisy-print dress and a red tartan shirt.

Karen completed her look with white ballet pumps and a black quilted Chanel handbag as well as a pair of dark sunglasses.
Matt, 31, also wore a pair of dark sunglasses and teamed a patterned T-shirt with a pair of baggy blue jeans and trainers.
The former Doctor Who stars looked like they had a lot to catch up on as they sat opposite one another and enjoyed a healthy lunch.

Karen now lives in Los Angeles, whereas Matt is in the US for work [REX]

Matt and Karen obviosuly felt it was important to make time for one another whilst they're both in the States.
It is believed that Matt is in the US due to his role in Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, Lost River, which is expected to be released later this year.
However, Karen actually lives in Los Angeles now and confirmed this during an interview on The Late Late Show.
