JOSE MOURINHO has dropped a heavy hint that Chelsea WILL make a move to sign Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

Costa broke Chelsea's hearts this week by scoring from the spot on route to a 3-1 win for Atletico that knocked Mourinho's side out of the Champions League.

But amid reports claiming a £32million deal to take the Brazil-born striker to Stamford Bridge has been agreed, he could be wearing a blue shirt next season.

And while Mourinho was coy when questioned about Costa, he hinted that Chelsea want to sign him.

"We are going to do some, I would say a couple, of critical signings," said Mourinho.

"Is a striker a target for us? Yes, we never deny that.

"Is Diego a good player? He is, but he's an Atletico Madrid player so I cannot say much."

However, Mourinho declined to confirm if goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois would be back at Chelsea next season.
