MARK HUGHES is confident Liverpool's return to the Champions League will boost his chances of keeping Oussama Assaidi at Stoke on a permanent deal.
Hughes doubts that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will recall the Morocco international to strengthen his squad in preparation for the added European fixtures.
But will instead look to sell Assaidi to create funds as they look to bring in new players.
The Stoke boss said: "The ball is very much in Liverpool's court because he is their player.
We are hopeful of keeping him here
"He is their player and we mustn't forget that, but yes we are hopeful of keeping him here.
"It's fair to say that he's enjoyed his time with us and we have enjoyed having him here."
