Allardyce's job had appeared to be under threat, but there didn't appear to be any 'Fat Sam Out' protests resounding around the stadium during the game.
Tottenham started brightly enough and they should have been ahead in the opening five minutes after a flowing move saw Christian Eriksen tee up Emmanuel Adebayor but he spurned it and ended up side-footing tamely into Adrian's arms.
The visitors were then reduced to 10 men when Younes Kaboul was adjudged to have brought down Stewart Downing on the edge of the area as he bore in on goal.
Downing was causing problems for Tottenham and he scored his first goal for the club on stroke of half time when he drilled his free kick under the wall into the corner of the net.
West Ham continued to up the ante in the second half and they could have further extended their lead five minutes after the restart, but Mohamed Diame's scissor kick was brilliantly saved by Lloris.
The Hammers have now reached the 40-point mark confirming their Premier League status while Tottenham remain in sixth spot on 66 points.
