Madrid claimed a vital away goal in the 16th minute through a header by Sergio Ramos, who was able to take advantage of Bayern's poor marking from a Luka Modric corner.
The Spain defender doubled the lead four minutes later, again with his head, but this time getting on the end of a Pepe flick-on from an Angel di Maria free kick.
Ronaldo and Bale hit the hosts on the counter to make it 3-0 before the break, with the Welshman selflessly pulling the ball back to the Portuguese forward to make it 15 goals in the Champions League this term.
Ronaldo piled on the misery for the hosts to make it four in the dying embers of the game, striking a free-kick under the feet of the wall.
