It was the latest set-back in the 50-year-old's miserable spell in charge of the soon-to-be deposed Premier League champions, since replacing legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson last summer.
Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park confirmed United's failure to qualify for the lucrative Champions League next season, the first time since 1995 the club will be missing from Europe's top-tier club competition.
Despite winning the Community Shield against Wigan Athletic in August, Moyes has since seen his side miss out in all cup competitions, while they also look likely to finish a lowly seventh in the Premier League.
Moyes now appears to have lost the faith of United's hierarchy, including American owners the Glazer family and executive vice-chairman Edward Woodward.
Some United fans are also beginning to turn against Sir Alex's choice of successor, as they witness fierce rivals Liverpool on the cusp of league title glory.
Should Moyes be out of a job sooner rather than later the odds suggest faith will be put in Ryan Giggs to turn fortunes around at Old Trafford
A William Hill spokesman said: "With question marks over the futures of a number of Premier League managers we have been betting on each boss and whether they will last the summer.
"The amount of money we have seen added to conjecture on social media has seen the markets taken off site as we try to ascertain the validity of these rumours."
With just four Premier League games left this season, veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs has been touted to take over from Moyes on a short-term basis.
Jessica Bridge, from Ladbrokes, said: "Should Moyes be out of a job sooner rather than later the odds suggest faith will be put in Ryan Giggs to turn fortunes around at Old Trafford."
Meanwhile, Sir Alex can be backed at 16-1 with Ladbrokes to make a sensational return to Old Trafford, where he won 38 trophies during his 26 years in charge.
