The 75-year-old opened up to E! News about the 5-year-old's first role, revealing that he was looking forward to seeing her in the film and had "heard some things about it that Angie had said."
The adorable tot plays a young Princess Aurora in the Disney remake, while her mother Angelina plays the title role in the re-imagining of the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty.
"Apparently the people at Disney were having a lot of fun because [Brad Pitt] and Angie were running with the camera saying, 'Okay now smile! You're out in the field," added Voight on Monday night.
Meanwhile, older siblings Pax and Sahara will also appear in the movie, which will be released at the end of May, but with much smaller roles.
"We think it’s fun for our kids to have cameos and join us on set, but not to be actors. That's not our goal, for Brad and I, at all," Angelina told Entertainment Weekly.
However, the actress added that it was out of necessity that her then 4-year-old took on the important role because other children were too scared.
She added: "But the other three- and four-year-old [performers] wouldn’t come near me.
She added that even son Pax was a little apprehensive at first.
"When Pax saw me for the first time, he ran away and got upset—and I thought he was kidding, so I was pretending to chase him until I actually found him crying," Jolie recalled.
The highly anticipated film is set for release on May 30 and co-stars Sharlto Copley and Juno Temple.
