LOUIS VAN GAAL remains an outside bet to take over at Arsenal despite seemingly closing in on the managerial vacancy at Manchester United.
Reports in Holland on Tuesday suggested that Arsenal were interested in replacing Arsene Wenger with van Gaal at the end of the season.
And while the Dutchman remains a red-hot favourite to take over at United with bookmakers Ladbrokes offering odds of 11/10 that the 62-year-old taking over at Old Trafford, van Gaal also remains 20/1 to take over at the Emirates.
Van Gaal is also still 3/1 to replace Tim Sherwood at Tottenham.
However, Arsenal could yet step up their interest in van Gaal who can not take any Premier League job until fulfilling his commitments with the Dutch national squad at the World Cup this summer.
Andries Jonker is the new academy director at Arsenal
It is thought that Arsenal would like to make van Gaal the head of a Dutch revolution at the Emirates.
Indeed, there is some suggestion that the appointment of Andries Jonker - who was assistant to van Gaal at Bayern Munich - as the new academy director at Arsenal is part of a calculated move to lure the former Barcelona man to the Gunners.
In addition to Jonker, Dutchmen Frans de Kat and Jan van Loon are in charge of the under-18 and under-16 teams at Arsenal.
Whilst van Gaal remains a heavy favourite to take over at United following Moyes departure this week, Arsene Wenger's failure to sign a new contract at Arsenal means the in-demand manager can't be entirely counted out for the Gunners job just yet.
