PAPISS CISSE has dealt Newcastle a body blow after being ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken kneecap.

The misfiring striker sustained a knee injury in the 2-1 defeat against Swansea at the weekend and left St James' Park on crutches.

But reports indicate Cisse is set to miss the remainder of the campaign and could struggle to be fit in time for the start of pre-season.

Alan Pardew feared for the worst when he said after the game: "We had a few blows in the game with the injuries to Papiss and Luuk.

"Papiss is more serious because it looks like he has damaged his knee."

Cisse has been in wretched form, managing just two goals in 23 games.
