Monk, 35, has guided the club to Premier League safety having been placed in temporary charge when Michael Laudrup was sacked in February.
With the Swans guaranteed a fourth straight season of top-flight football, Monk is set to meet with chairman Huw Jenkins this week to discuss taking over full-time.
Monk has plenty of support within the dressing room and boardroom, and has already held talks over potential transfer targets and pre-season tour destinations with Jenkins.
The former defender's appointment could be confirmed before Swansea face Sunderland in their final Premier League fixture of the campaign.
"We all agree that we would like to get everything sorted and clarified as soon as we can," said Jenkins.
It has not all been plain sailing for Monk, who has had to cope with training ground bust-ups while taking just 15 points from 12 league games in charge.

But he is viewed by the hierarchy as someone who understands the fabric of the club and fits the preference for a British manager.
Monk will have to do without defender Angel Rangel for the last two games of the season because of a groin injury.
The Spaniard, 31, picked up the injury in the second half of the 4-1 win over Aston Villa, which ensured the club will remain in the Premier League next season.
A scan has revealed a grade two strain which will keep the right-back out of the meetings with Southampton and Sunderland.
It will offer Neil Taylor a chance to impress Swans boss Garry Monk and any potential suitors.
Wales international Taylor attracted interest from Fulham in January and could leave the Liberty Stadium this summer in order to get first-team football.
