DAVID MOYES has been thanked by rivals fans for his efforts as Manchester United boss following his sacking.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to sarcastically praise Moyes, who was axed this morning.

Ryan Giggs has been placed in caretaker control at Old Trafford, with four games of the season remaining.

But rival fans wanted to pay their own tongue-in-cheek respects to Moyes after he lost his job.

This afternoon #ThankYouMoyes was trending in the United Kingdom as hundreds of tweets came flooding in.

Yesterday, after Express Sport revealed that the Red Devils were poised to sack Moyes, #SaveMoyes trended in a similar move by fans taking a pop at United.

Last night, some in the crowd during Manchester City's 3-1 win over West Brom mocked the Scot with banners saying: "Don't Sack Moyes".
