The eighth series got off to a good start on April 12 when it attracted a record audience of 10.5million viewers, but those figures dropped dramatically during the second episode.
Just 8.3million people tuned in over the weekend to watch various magicians try their luck on the talent show.
Venting on Twitter, one viewer wrote: "I have decided that BGT is a load of scripted rubbish," while another added: "BGT is so scripted, Simon has gone round YouTube seen some acts and paid them to come on."
There was also complaints of the judges being too cruel towards some of the less talented contestants, such as Christian Spridon who was on the verge of tears after performing his own rendition of Tom Jones’ hit song 'Sex Bomb'.
But even this act of kindness was criticised as viewers felt it was giving him false hope.
"Sometimes it feels slightly cruel, like the golden buzzer bit, they were just taking the p** out that poor bloke," one viewer wrote, while another posted: "That is such a cruel golden buzzer. That guy proper believes his talent @davidwalliams."
