LOUIS VAN GAAL wants to build a new team at Manchester United this summer.

The Dutch coach is expected to be confirmed as United's next manager today.

And while he will guide Holland at the World Cup this summer, work has already begun behind the scenes to secure Van Gaal's top targets.

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is the latest star the 62-year-old wants to bring to Old Trafford.

And here, Express Sport looks at how United could line up next season if Van Gaal gets the talent he wants.

David De Gea has cemented his position as the Red Devils' goalkeeper after a fine season despite the team's struggles.

But he will be playing behind a much-changed backline next term, with Sagna set to replace Rafael at right-back.

Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels is a key target at centre-back, with Van Gaal also keen on Dutch defender Bruno Martins Indi.

But Phil Jones would be most likely to keep his place in defence ahead of Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Indi, partnering Hummels.

Southampton's Luke Shaw is the subject of a £27million bid from United and is set to be the long-term successor to Patrice Evra.

In the middle of the park, Michael Carrick faces a fight to keep his place but has a better chance than any of Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley and Marouane Fellaini to stay in the team.

Van Gaal is interested in Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos but has more chance of bringing Barcelona misfit Cesc Fabregas to Old Trafford.

He could line up in a midfield with Dortmund flyer Marco Reus, with January signing Juan Mata on the other flank.

Up front there is a familiar feel with Robin van Persie given the main striking role with Wayne Rooney playing off the Dutchman.
