A MAN has been charged with murder after a two-year-old girl died on Sunday evening.
Police were called to a property in Croftangry Road in Kelty, Fife, at 6.30pm after a "report of concern" was filed for Madison Horne.
She was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkaldy, but was later pronounced dead.
Police Scotland said a 26-year-old man was charged with murder and is due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court today.
Tributes have already begun to appear outside the girl's house, including teddy bears, soft toys and pink roses.
Kelty is a strong close knit community and there is universal sadness at the tragic death of a two-year-old girl last night
One teddy placed outside the two-storey house was left with a note which read: "Rest in peace little Madison, now you're in the arms of the angels."
Local MP and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Labour MSP Alex Rowley said in a joint statement: "Kelty is a strong close knit community and there is universal sadness at the tragic death of a two-year-old girl last night.
"We know that the whole community will come together to mourn the loss of a child who has been taken from us at such a young age and we support those closest to her.
"We also know that all possible help will be given to the police and the hospital authorities as they investigate the tragedy."
