Wilmots took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that he had received official confirmation that Januzaj had decided to represent Belgium.
He said: "Received official confirmation that Adnan Januzaj has made himself available for the Belgian national team for the rest of his career!
"This is good news and I am delighted that this talented player is selectable for @belreddevils!"
The 19-year-old has been the subject of an eligibility tug-of-war with England, Kosovo, Albania, Turkey, Croatia and Serbia all laying claim to the prodigious youngster.
Received official confirmation that Adnan Januzaj has made himself available for the Belgian national team for the rest of his career!
But it seems that Belgium - where Januzaj was born - have won the race and the winger could now be included in the Red Devils World Cup squad.
Januzaj started his youth career in Belgium with Anderlecht before moving to Manchester United in 2011 at the age of 16.
Roy Hodgson had held out hope that Januzaj could be persuaded to represent the Three Lions while the players father had recently suggested he could opt to represent Kosovo.
However, with Kosovo still not officially recognised by UEFA and therefore unable to take part in international tournaments or play competitive fixtures it seems that Belgium are the players choice.
