Teachers' strike over pay and pensions to clash with exam time #CarryGobySeanKellz #FutureGroupNG via @i_amreginaldjr

CRUCIAL school exams could be hit by strikes this summer after teachers voted yesterday for industrial action over pay, pensions and workload.

Teachers have voted to strike on the week beginning June 23, which coincides with national exams[POSED BY MODELS/GETTY]
Parents will also have their lives disrupted after delegates at the National Union of Teachers’ annual conference in Brighton voted overwhelmingly for co-ordinated national walkouts in the week beginning Monday, June 23, if there is not “significant” progress in talks.
The union insisted it was not targeting exams and said staff would be allowed to work if they were needed to supervise tests. But with at least a dozen GCSE and A-level papers due to be taken on the Monday and Tuesday of that week, and an advanced maths paper scheduled for the Wednesday, there are fears that unsettling pupils is an inevitability
Further strikes lasting more than a day have not been ruled out and more walkouts are possible in the autumn.
Around one in eight English schools had to close when the union held a one-day strike last month.
