De Boer revealed yesterday that he wants to be the next Spurs boss, although the north London club insist no contact has been made.

"Reports that we have made approaches to other clubs regarding coaching staff are wholly inaccurate," read a statement on the club's official website.

"We have NOT contacted any club regarding coaching appointments.

"We regret that a statement such as this is necessary, however we feel it is important to clarify matters."

The Dutchman is odds-on with bookmakers to take over from Sherwood this summer, with the 43-year-old set to consider his future when Ajax's domestic season finishes this weekend.
"I'm going to think about this possibility after the last league fixture on May 3," De Boer said.
"I'm going to talk and listen. I'd like to add something to a club, that people can say they see the hand of Frank de Boer.
"There is a beautiful example at Liverpool. That is what Brendan Rodgers is doing now [making his mark]."

However, Express Sport understands that Spurs are yet to make an official approach for de Boer.
Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino and Manchester United target Louis van Gaal are also in the frame for the White Hart Lane hotseat, along with the axed David Moyes.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to tear up the 18-month deal he handed to Sherwood in December to replace Andre Villas-Boas.
Sherwood's win percentage is better than any other Tottenham manager in the Premier League era.
But with de Boer openly admitting his interest in the post, he could replace the former Premier League winner in a matter of months.
