BREAK THE LAW: James May a Top Gear was caught talking on the mobile phone while driving his porshe on the M6 #CarryGobySeanKellz #FutureGroupNG via @myentertain9jar

HE'S BUILT a career out of the motoring industry, so you would think James May might know a thing or two about the rules of the road.

However, the Top Gear host appeared oblivious earlier this week after he was spotted using his mobile phone while driving.
The star, who is often labelled Captain Slow on the hit TV programme for his apparent lack of skills on the road, was captured breaking the law by a passer-by, who snapped him juggling both his mobile phone and steering wheel on a busy motorway on Monday.
Clearly using only one hand to steer his £80,000 Porsche 911 down the M6, the TV presenter can be seen using his left hand to hold his mobile phone to his ear while chatting away to a mystery caller.

While it is unknown whether authorities are aware of the incident, the consequence of the 51-year-old's behaviour could well result in him losing his license.
The law clearly states: "You can get an automatic fixed penalty notice if you’re caught using a hand-held phone while driving or riding. You’ll get 3 penalty points on your licence and a fine of £100.
"Your case could also go to court and you could be disqualified from driving or riding and get a maximum fine of £1,000."
However, it looks as though the BBC host hasn't completely seen the error of his ways after taking to Twitter to sarcastically highlight the incident.
"Cack. I used my mobile phone in the car yesterday. I hope no-one took a picture and sent it to The Sun. I'd look like a right c***," he wrote.
Adding: "Why did The Sun need someone to tell them I was using my mobile phone? Surely they knew already?"
Express.co.uk has contacted James's representative.
