Clement, 42, has been Carlo Ancelotti's right-hand man at Chelsea, Paris St Germain and Real over the last five years.
The English coach, who also worked under Steve Kean briefly at Blackburn, is now eyeing up a No1 role in his home country.
But he knows it will be tough to leave Madrid after helping Real complete their quest for their 10th European Cup in Lisbon on Saturday night.
"The time for me to be a manager is soon, it will be soon," he said. "A few opportunities have come my way, but this is a difficult place to leave.
"It's a great club, a great city, a great tradition and it gives you the opportunity to win. It's nice that I'll always be part of 'the 10th' as well.
"More than likely it will be in England, although if a nice opportunity came up in another country I wouldn't rule it out. I've enjoyed working in France and Spain as well."
Clement has been linked with the vacant Brighton job, while West Brom and Tottenham are still looking to secure new managers.
The former PE teacher has won the Premier League and FA Cup in England, Ligue 1 in France, and the Champions League and Copa Del Rey in Spain.
He added: "Carlo has given a lot of confidence in me and given me the belief that one day I can do it. But he hasn't kicked me out of the door yet."
