Speaking as the last votes were being cast across the EU, Ukip is tipped to achieve a historic victory and the leader is feeling bullish.
In an interview today, he said: “The public want something different. We are catalysing a big change in British politics on fundamental issues that have been brushed under the carpet and ignored by a completely out-of-touch career political class for too long."
The results will come in from 10pm this evening and are set to replicate those seen at the local elections where Ukip gained 161 seats.
There are 73 UK MEP seats up for grabs, and  prior to the election the Conservatives had 26, Labour had 13, Lib Dems had 12, Ukip had nine and the Greens had two.
Mr Farage is confident his party will top the poll in the UK, piling further pressure on the established Westminster parties to find ways to win back supporters.
Nick Clegg - who has acknowledged the Liberal Democrats could lose all of their MEPs - is facing MPs' questions over his leadership and calls to quit from activists including general election candidates.

Anti-EU parties from the left and right are expected to gain significant numbers of MEPs across all 28 member states in the wake of the eurozone crisis and severe financial squeeze.
Cameron is now coming under pressure to do a deal with Ukip ahead of the general election next year.
Today the Tories unveiled a raft of proposed curbs on migration, including the ability to boot out jobless EU nationals.
But some critics will argue it is too little too late as Ukip are set to reap the rewards this evening from voter discontent about immigration levels and the UK membership of the EU.
David Cameron has been urged by influential Tory MP David Davis to bring forward his promised EU referendum by a year to 2016 in a bid to persuade defectors to Ukip he is serious.
Voters in 21 EU countries have been going to the polls since Thursday in a vote which will impact the lives of 500million people across the bloc.
The 751 seats are allocated in proportion to each country’s size.
The full results are likely to be known on Monday.
