SPOILER ALERT: After the death of Lucy, EastEnders' Max Branning begins to act Suspicious #CarryGobySeanKellz #FutureGroupNG via @myentertain9jar

IT'S a 'whodunnit' storyline which is set to continue until February next year, but it looks as though Max Branning is a strong suspect in the murder of Lucy Beale.

New pictures released by the BBC show the Walford businessman starting to panic as the realisation of what has happened to his secret lover starts to sink in.
As the police begin their investigation into Lucy's death, Max goes to great lengths to protect himself - meaning he way well have something to hide.
in one of the stills, he can be seen deleting CCTV footage in the car lot when he realises that the cameras have picked up incriminating evidence of him and Lucy together.

However, Max isn't the only one who could have a motive for killing off the blonde daughter of Ian Beale.
Other suspects include Max's daughter Lauren - who was best friends with the victim - Lauren's twin brother Peter, and newcomer Lee Carter.
But even more surprisingly is the fact that EastEnders fans are now even putting Tanya Branning in the frame, despite actress Jo Joyner having left the soap last year.

It means that the entire Branning family (except for Oscar) are now suspects for having killed Lucy, with Max's younger daughter Abi also in the frame.
However, Jake Wood - who plays the role of Max - believes the prospect of his onscreen wife returning to Albert Square is highly unlikely.
Joking during a recent interview with Inside Soap, Wood said: "I joked that if she returned before three years were up, I’d leave! She needed a proper break, time to be a mum and pursue other things. But I look forward to the day that she and Tanya come back."
