Roma looking to sign Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku on Thibaut Courtois-style loan #CarryGobySeanKellz #FutureGroupNG via @myentertain9jar

ROMA will ask Chelsea to take Romelu Lukaku - currently on a short-term deal with Everton - on loan next season if Manchester United target Miralem Pjanic remains at the club.

Reports in Italy suggest that keeping Pjanic remains a priority for Rudi Garcia ahead of next season's Champions League campaign.
But should the Bosnian remain in Rome, it would leave the club short on funds to bring in a new striker.
That could see Roma switch their attentions from Porto's Jackson Martinez to cheaper alternatives.
And Roma's current director of football Walter Sabatini believes that a loan move for Lukaku could prove the answer.
Lukaku admitted today that he could well leave Everton when his current loan deal expires and that his future would ultimately remain up to Chelsea.

But with Jose Mourinho seemingly determined to bring in big-name striking reinforcements in the summer there still may not be a place for Lukaku at Stamford Bridge.
Roma believe that with Everton missing out on the Champions League, their ability to offer European competition could persuade the Blues that Lukaku is best served continuing his development with them.
Indeed, Roma hope that Chelsea would sanction a long-term loan deal similar to the one that has seen Thibaut Courtois remain at Atletico Madrid for the past three seasons.
However, with Lukaku's contract set to expire in 2016 Chelsea may be reluctant to risk losing him for nothing in two years time.
It would then remain to be seen whether Roma would pursue a permanent deal this summer or for that matter whether Chelsea are ready to let the 20-year-old leave the club at such a young age.
