'It's not greed, it's a dream' – Britain's Got Talent's Ed Drewett hits back at critics who believe he shouldn't be on the show #BringBackOurGirls #FutureGroupNG via @myentertain9jar

One Direction songwriter is determined to make it as a solo artist as he waits to hear if he's in the semi-finals

TONIGHT the judges on Britain's Got Talent will chose their favourite 45 acts to go through to next week's semi-finals.
And among those hopefuls is singer-songwriter Ed Drewett – the 26-year-old who wowed Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon singing his track Blink.

Yet Ed is used to fame, having had a successful career co-writing songs for The Wanted, One Direction and Olly Murs.
In an exclusive chat with Entertain9jar, we ask the Harlow-born star if he ever gets jealous of band's singing his songs.

"Absolutely not, as a songwriter to say that I've co-written or written a song that's topping the charts is phenomenal, but I can't forget that the song writing came as a by product of me trying to make it as an artist myself and I still haven't done that.
"It's not greed, it's a dream – just because I've written for other people doesn't mean that I should stop going for it."

However, this is something some people have criticised Ed for, believing it's unfair that he is in this competition.
"I've thought about that quite a lot, I'm cool to address it. I hope that the public enjoy my music initially and they can see that my songs deserve to be up there in the charts with me singing them.
"I'll give up if the public don't like it, they will let me know and I will bow out and continue to write for people."
