Courtney Friel was covering a wildfire in Los Angeles when she spotted a man standing on the smoke-filled street and approached him to ask a question.

But the confident man quickly complimented the 34-year-old blonde bombshell for her looks and swiftly asked her out for a romantic evening together.

She put the microphone to the man, who was holding a cute Jack Russell, and said: "Sir, do you live around here?"

Not beating around the bush, he said: "Yeah. Wow, you're super pretty - you want to go on a date sometime?"

The experienced journalist brushed aside his advances and replied: "We're on the air live right now on KTLA actually.

"Do you live in one of these houses, are you evacuating?"

Sheepishly, the man said: "I live down the street, I was just checking out the fire."

She then asked: "What do you think of it?"
