MANCHESTER UNITED legend Ryan Giggs has today announced his retirement as a player.

Giggs will continue to work for United after accepting the role as assistant manager to newly-appointed boss Louis Van Gaal.
The Welshman is the most decorated player in United's history - with highlights including 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two Champions League trophies.
The 40-year-old also claimed four League Cups, one Club World Cup and nine Community Shields.
He said: "Today is a new chapter filled with many emotions - immense pride, sadness, but most of all, excitement towards the future."
