"Yes, just to say our little boy was born in the early hours of Thursday weighing 8lbs 3oz – we are just home and all very well indeed," she beamed.
Kate – who is wife to Mike Heron – went on to announce her second child's totally adorable name.
"His name is Wilbur – after the man who first inspired my love of #Africa and its wildlife," she added.
Although mum and baby are safe and well, the labour had a slight complication as the back of her baby's head was against her back.

"Wilbur was 'persistent occiput posterior' 'dreaded' position for many midwives – but not Jenny and we managed without intervention #indebted," she informed her 33k Twitter followers.
After settling down at home with the family's new addition, Kate chose to share the very first picture of the tiny tot.
"Gorgeous morning all – introducing #Wilbur our little ray of sunshine," she gushed as Wilbur enjoyed a nap.
We're sending all the congratulations your way, Kate and Mike!
