TRANSFER NEWS: Van Gaal's Man Utd clearout, Arsenal's Khedira blow and De Boer's admission

LOUIS VAN GAAL is preparing to wield the axe by letting up to 10 players leave Manchester United while Arsenal and Chelsea's interest in Sami Khedira has been scuppered. Elsewhere, Frank De Boer has revealed he would liked to have become the Tottenham manager.

Louis Van Gaal isn't afraid to crack the whip after formally taking over at Manchester United.
Up to 10 players could be heading for the Old Trafford exit, including Marouane Fellaini, Ashley Young, Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez.
Arsenal and Chelsea's hopes of landing Sami Khedira could end in disappointment.
Sources in Spain claimed a £20million deal to the Emirates was on the horizon but it transpires he hasn't been in talks with either club.
Manchester City could allow Alvaro Negredo to leave in this window.

Frank De Boer has revealed he would have liked to have been appointed Tottenham boss.
The Ajax coach was considered as a candidate before Spurs named Mauricio Pochettino was named as Tim Sherwood's successor.
Barcelona star Bojan Krkic has been given 24 hours to decide whether he wants to join Stoke on loan.
Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta said: "Bojan knows the situation. It is best for him and the club that it is resolved soon."

John Scales has warned Liverpool against doing a Tottenham and throwing their cash from the Luis Suarez sale around.
The Reds pocketed £75m from the Suarez deal and Scales believes the money must be put to good use.
