CHERYL Cole's secret wedding to Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini is still a hot topic.

But so far, good friend Nicola Roberts is the only Girls Aloud girl to pipe up and congratulate the new wife on her surprising but happy news.

The 28-year-old hit Instagram to defend the Crazy, Stupid Love singer's decision to marry a man she's supposedly only been dating for three months.

Nicola insisted Cheryl is happier than ever as Mrs. Fernandez-Versini as she all but confirmed she is Cheryl Cole no more.

"For the Versinis', but mostly for her, who is happier than ever. Love," she wrote alongside a poignant message.

"You can be in a relationship for two years and feel nothing; you can be in a relationship for two months and feel everything. Time is not a measure of quality; of infatuation, or of love," it read.

Yesterday, Cheryl – who's dropped the Cole from her Twitter name – thanked well wishers for their messages.
