Former Strictly Come Dancing star speaks out after being hit by torrent of abuse over assault claims
VANESSA Feltz has become the latest target of Twitter trolls after revealing Rolf Harris sexually assaulted her live on television.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star spoke for the first time about the "disgusting" incident in which the shamed Australian reached "his hand inside the elastic" of her knickers, in an interview with the Sunday Express.
While a lot of people spoke out in support of the broadcaster, many hounded her with "vile" abuse.
Speaking on her BBC radio show, Vanessa said: "I really think that people should take a little care before they tweet – because the things they say can potentially be so malicious and damaging.
"You think if people react like that, you can see why people don't come forward.
"I'm not saying just if it's someone famous, but imagine if it was your dad, uncle or teacher."
Vanessa went on to admit the foul-mouthed, offensive tweets cut deep and said: "I was upset by the outpouring of misogyny and hatred and you know 'Who would want to assault Vanessa Feltz?'."
Harris was last week jailed for five years and nine months after being found guilty of 12 sex assaults.
