LUIS SUAREZ is set to officially become a Barcelona player after Liverpool reached an agreement with the Spaniards on his sale.
Suarez will now undergo a medical at Barcelona and that is unlikely to happen until early next week, but his controversial stay at Liverpool and in English football is over.
The striker is believed to have written a farewell letter to Liverpool fans explaining his decision to leave Anfield and push for a move to the Nou Camp.
Barcelona have been determined to land Suarez, who will play alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar next season in a potentially devastating attacking triumvirate, despite his troubles off the pitch.
The Uruguay star is currently banned from playing until late October after biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, but his scintillating skills ensure he was never going to be outcast despite FIFA’s heavy punishment.
Suarez moved to Liverpool in January 2011 from Ajax for £18m and courted controversy while producing attacking brilliance.
He was banned after being found guilty of racially abuse Patrice Evra and also landed a 10-match suspended for biting Branislav Ivanovic, but conjured moments that will also live long in the memory.
