BRENDAN RODGERS is taking a leaf out of Tottenham's book as he looks to replace star man Luis
Suarez at Anfield.
Spurs spent over £100m on seven signings after losing Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for a world record £85m fee.
And 12 months on, Liverpool are set to splash out £120million after seeing Suarez head to Barcelona for £75m.
Tottenham's replacements did not quite match up to Bale's input last season, but Rodgers will hope his spree does better to cover for Suarez. The Reds boss has already brought in Rickie Lambert (£4m), Emre Can (£10m) and Adam Lallana (£25m) for a combined £39m. And two further arrivals are close, in the shape of £10m Belgium striker Divock Origi and £20m Benfica star Lazar Markovic. That will take Liverpool's spending to nearly £70m, but Rodgers wants more players in to help his side recover from losing Suarez. Another striker is on his agenda, with £20m Swansea hitman Wilfried Bony a target.Southampton's Jay Rodriguez is another option while QPR's Loic Remy would be a cheaper alternative. Rodgers is looking at £10m Swans full-back Ben Davies too, while he remains keen on Saints defender Dejan Lovren. Lovren wants to join Liverpool and the Kop boss hopes a £20m move can be revived. Landing Bony, Davies and Lovren would push Rodgers' spending to £120m, adding eight players to his squad as Suarez heads to Spain.
