A GREAT-grandfather who scooped £100,000 on The Health Lottery says he plans to treat his family to a holiday in the sun.
He plans to splash out on a new conservatory and a holiday for him and his wife, their two daughters, four grandchildren and great-grandson, along with the husband of one daughter and the fiance of a grand-daughter.
Dennis, from Evesham, Worcestershire, said: “Of course I was delighted and overjoyed when I won, I called over to my wife and we checked the numbers. I checked them again the next morning in the paper and the numbers were all there, we were absolutely over the moon.
“We have two daughters who are very good at spending money, especially when it’s not theirs. We always go away on holiday together, all 11 of us, so we may do that.
“We enjoy our children and we are going to share this with our kids, grandkids and great-grandson, that’s why you have them. We love them and are proud of them.”
He said it would be useful to have some money as “a cushion”, adding that when the last number was shown during the draw he couldn’t quite make out if it was a one or a seven and had to double-check.
“When I found out it was the right number I was elated,” he added. “We need a new conservatory, so this has come at just the right time.”
As for the family’s holiday plans, Dennis said they recently returned from Greece, adding: “I don’t like long journeys any more, so we will go somewhere nearby, maybe Spain.
“This has given us a lovely boost. We have a pretty good life, but this has made it a little bit better.”
